Sorry, this entry is only available in Italiano.
Go Local and Visiting Bologna team were invited to attend the official presentation of FICO in Bologna on the 12th December 2016. In the beautiful setting of the aula magna of the University of Bologna, we had the chance to meet all the people involved into this great project, starting from Oscar Farinetti, the founder.
Oscar Farinetti is the current owner of the high-end Italian food mall chain Eataly and founder of the consumer electronics chain UniEuro.
But what is FICO ?
Let’s start from the name: Fabbrica Italiana Contadina: http://eatalyworld.it/en#il-progetto
The translation would sound like: Italian farming factory. But, what does it mean?
Fico has been defined as the Italian Disneyland of food and after yesterday I think it is a resizing definition.
Let’s give some numbers:
80.000 SQM THEME PARK
7.000 SQM CULTIVATION
9.000 SQM MARKET AREA
7.300 SQM RESTAURANTS
4.000 SQM CONGRESS CENTER
44.000 PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS
So, a great food park theme with the goal of showing the biodiversity of Italian food.
Forty food factories, 25 restaurants, 30 events every day and of course a big big market.
Stating the words from FICO website: the Italian excellence from field to fork.
In a unique place: the culture of high quality food, the beauty of biodiversity of the Italian agri-food business, the expertise and knowledge of those who have always worked for the excellence of Italian food and wines.
FICO will officialy open in Bologna in October 2017.
Go Local strongly believes in this project and will keep you updated on the developments.
